Asthma stigma in India prevents medical treatment

A stigma associated with asthma is preventing children in India from receiving medical treatment, a new study from the University of Sydney has shown.

Interviews with asthmatic children and their parents in New Delhi found misconceptions about the condition were deterring families from seeking treatment.

The study recommended an education program for parents and children-friendly learning tools to help manage asthma.
