After earning a Ph.D. in Southeast Asian History with a minor in Languages and Cultures of Asia at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, my research interests have focused on two areas: (i) the international relations of Southeast Asia particularly the comparative foreign policy analysis of Southeast Asian countries and (ii) critical discourse analysis of "troubled history" in Southeast Asia. I am also part of the Association for the Teaching and Promotion of Indonesian as a Foreign Language and actively involved in the development of Indonesian teaching materials and teacher training. I believe that foreign language and culture competence is a must in the field of international relations.
I currently serve as the Department Chair of the Master of International Relations at the Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH).
