Senior Lecturer (Adjunct), University of Adelaide

I'm a neuroscientist with expertise in learning, memory and behavioural control. I’m passionate about uncovering how our diets and nutrition influence brain function and mental wellbeing.

I’m interested in how brain changes caused by diet and obesity can predispose individuals to the development of neurodegeneration, mood and eating disorders. I also work on how psychedelic therapies can be clinically applied to treat a range of psychiatric and neurological conditions.

In an academic setting, I have published 59 peer reviewed manuscripts in leading neuroscience and medicine journals and I have received over $3.4 Million (AUD) in research funding.

Outside of academia, I am a passionate science communicator exemplified by my multiple awards in science communication (including a Young Tall Poppy Award, NSW 2015) and invited TEDxSydney 2016 talk 'This is your brain on sugar' (https://tedxsydney.com/talk/this-is-your-brain-on-sugar-amy-reichelt/).
