I am a doctoral candidate at the University of Guelph working towards a PhD in Psychology + Neuroscience. I am interested in stress-based mood disorders, particularly depression, and how novel treatments, such as ketamine, exert their effects on the brain. Right now, I am working to understand the link between different types of stress and inflammation, and how this may play a role in abnormal mood states. Additionally, I am investigating whether ketamine can modulate the behavioural and physiological effects of interacting stressors, as well as possible mechanisms by which ketamine may be exerting these modulatory actions. Overall, this research aims to further our understanding of the possible pathophysiology that underlies abnormal mood states and seeks to establish possible mechanisms involved in the antidepressant effect of ketamine.
