Catherine Pickering is botanist, ecologist and environmental scientist. She undertook her PhD at the Australian National University, in Canberra on alpine botany and has continued to undertake research in the Australian Alps over 30 years as well as exploring new research methods including for literature reviews, but also on how people interact with nature using social media data. Currently she is a Professor in the Environment Futures Research Institute, and the School of Environment and Sciences at Griffith University. Her research interests include: alpine ecology, climate change, recreation ecology, managing visitors in protected areas, biodiversity conservation, human mediated seed dispersal, social media, literature review methdology and community garden.
