Daniel Pope is a Professor of Global Public Health and Epidemiology at the Department of Public Health, Policy and Systems and leads the Energy, Air Pollution and Health Research Group within the Department. He has more than 20 years experience researching the health, gender, environment and climate impacts from reliance on polluting sources of household energy in lower-and-middle-income countries (LMICs) and prevention strategies through clean cooking technologies and fuels. He has coordinated health research and capacity building programmes in Guatemala, Sudan, Nepal, Madagascar, Malawi, Cameroon, Kenya, Ghana, Tanzania and Rwanda. He currently directs the UK National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) CLEAN-Air(Africa) Global Health Research Unit.
