Dennis McNevin is Professor of Forensic Genetics in the Centre for Forensic Science, University of Technology Sydney (UTS). His research is focussed on the prediction of phenotype from genotype, including biogeographical ancestry (BGA), and the use of new DNA sequencing technologies for forensic purposes. He has also developed methods for extracting and preserving DNA. He has established a genetic ancestry laboratory for provision of forensic DNA intelligence services to forensic investigators.
Dennis has supervised numerous higher degree by research students including PhD and Honours. His graduates have found employment in the Australian Federal Police (AFP) graduate program as well as in AFP Forensics, NSW Forensic and Analytical Science Service (FASS) and Victoria Police Forensic Services Department (FSD). He has delivered forensic biology training programs for members of the Indonesian National Police, the Royal Thai Police, Iraqi Police Services and the National Forensic Science Agency and Punjab Forensic Science Agency from Pakistan.
