Associate Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, The University of Melbourne

I was born in former Yugoslavia and completed my undergraduate training and Master of Science Degree at the University of Sarajevo. I further completed my Advanced Surgical Training at the University of Sarajevo (BiH), Belgrade (SRB) and Chicago (USA). I have worked for 17 years at the University of Sarajevo (Assistant Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery) and as an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon at the University Teaching Hospital.

In 1992, I migrated to Australia, obtained an Australian dental degree - BDS (Adel) and also an Australian Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery specialist Fellowship FRACDS (OMS) qualification. In Australia I have been practicing as a registered specialist Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon since 1998.

At present, I am the Head of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department of the Royal Dental Hospital of Melbourne, Senior Consultant Surgeon in the Austin Hospital and Senior Lecturer in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. I teach at both undergraduate and postgraduate level and so far, I have accumulated over 35 years of experience in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and of teaching at local, national and international level. I teach and train surgical trainees nationally and internationally.

My interests are in dental implants, wisdom teeth, teaching and treatment of oral and maxillofacial pathology.
