Humphrey Southall

Humphrey Southall is Professor of Historical Geography at the University of Portsmouth. He is the principal creator of the Great Britain Historical GIS, and the web site "A Vision of Britain through Time".

His research interests include the history of the North-South divide in Britain, Data models for gazetteers and geospatial ontologies, long-run impacts of locality characteristics on health inequalities and the role of travellers in the development of political life.
