Michael B. Lund is a postdoctoral scholar in the Physics and Astronomy Department of Vanderbilt University, with a PhD from Vanderbilt and a BS and MS in Physics from California State University, Northridge. Coming from a long amateur astronomy background, his primary focus is on the discovery of planets outside our solar system. In the search for new worlds, he is a member of the science team for the KELT exoplanet search and the LSST subgroup for transiting exoplanets. In the process, this work involves exploring a range of variable objects in the night sky, and the best ways to plan observations to find and characterize them.
