Professor of Economics, City, University of London

Professor Ben-Gad obtained his BA in Economics at Hebrew University of Jerusalem and his MA and PhD from the University of Chicago. He has worked in the Research Department of the Bank of Israel, and taught at the University of Houston and the University of Haifa.

Michael joined City as a Reader in 2007 and served as Head of Department between 2010 to 2013. His research focuses on Dynamic Macroeconomics with applications to taxation, public debt, the economic effects of immigration, national security as well as the emergence of multiple equilibria in models of economic growth and the incorporation of compositional data into econometric models.

He has also researched and written widely on defence and national security issues, publishing in a variety of academic journals. He has also been a member of Israel's National Security Forum. He served in the IDF Armoured Corps from 1982 through 1985.
