Safi is a Ph.D. Candidate at Alfred Deakin Institute, Deakin University, focusing on the Negotiations and Prioritizations of Foreign Aid in the Fragile State of Afghanistan. With broader research and academic background, his primary interests are Afghanistan's economics and politics, foreign aid: development and humanitarianism and Middle Eastern politics and economics. He earned a bachelor degree in International Politics from Georgetown University, School of Foreign Service and an Executive Master Degree in Energy and Resources with a certificate of course completion from Ruhr University Bochum in Germany in International Humanitarian Actions. Besides working on his Ph.D. Safi is also a casual academic and a research assistant at Deakin University. He often writes for Aljazeera, International Peace Studies Centre in Tehran, and The Diplomat.
