Susanna Lee is Professor in the Department of French and Francophone Studies at Georgetown University. Her research interests include the nineteenth-century French novel, twentieth-century crime fiction, popular culture, and literary theory. She is the author of "Detectives in the Shadows" (Johns Hopkins University Press, 2020), "Hard-Boiled Crime Fiction and the Decline of Moral Authority" (Ohio State University Press, 2016), and "A World Abandoned by God: Narrative and Secularism" (Bucknell University Press, 2006). She has edited Norton Critical Editions of Proust’s "Swann’s Way" (2013) and Stendhal’s "The Red and the Black" (2007) and has also published in the field of law and humanities.
