Dr. Wilfred Fritz is a senior lecturer at the Department of Electrical Engineering at CPUT and holds BEng (Stell), MSc (ESIEE) and DTech (CPUT) degrees. He is a registered Certified Measurement and Verification Professional (CMVP) and also a professional electrical engineer (Pr. Eng) affiliated to the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) and the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) respectively. In 2013 he was seconded to the Department of Energy as Chief Technical Advisor: Energy Efficiency. In 2012 he received the Alexander von Humboldt’s African-German Network of Excellence in Science’ (AGNES) award for Junior Researchers. He attended a three month Renewable Energy (RE) Management course in Munich in 2010. In 2009 Dr. Fritz and Tiisetso Development Systems received the national winner award for their innovative “Electrical Energy Saving Warning device” patent in the Support Program for Innovation at the DTI Technology Awards. He has a passion for energy consumption reduction and empowering students through meaningful activities, such as project management, entrepreneurship and innovation.
